September - New shop opens in Glin, Co. Limerick, Photo Shoots and Flowercraft Workshop information.

'Here? Now?!

So a few weeks ago, we were introduced to a new friend/contact/business associate... Mr John Costelloe of Glin, a landlord of a small shop run by a lovely lady called Ann, was looking for something or someone unusual to take over a yard and shop at the back of Ann's antiques shop in the heritage village of Glin. Coffees and cake taken, we shook hands and now have a yard shop open and full of plants, flowers, and more of our collections of things that need to stay dry! We also plan to showcase our individual style of wedding floristry here, where we can host our bride to be with refreshments, and prepare samples and designs during these consultations.

Officially, we will have our Glin shop opening celebration on Saturday 10th October from 12.30pm onwards, and we are also planning a Flowercraft Workshop for the Monday 12th October 2015. During the workshop, we will talk about growing and buying flowers for use in floristry, current trends and will hope to create some amazing floral displays for you to take home. You can also bring flowers and plants from your garden to work with, or choose from our current stock to create your individial piece.

September also brought us two photo shoots with the talented Eva Birdthistle. The first, on what may have been the only dry day of the summer, was a Celtic Mythology themed bridal shoot, in a pure and simple editorial style focusing on the skills of make up artist, Laura Halvey, hairstylist Mary Joyce and giving young model Kiara Quane from Limerick a bridal shot for her modelling portfolio. Eva also asked me to design an avant garde headpiece to use or the shoot, and this willow and mossball crown was the result. We also tested out the house as a location for a photo shoot, and by the amount of house pictures taken, we think it went down well! During the shoot, we had two major issues to contend with - crystal embellished bridal wear and muddy paths and moss strewn banks... it's the stylists secret off how we got her there and back to the house without damage! Oh, not forgetting the paraglider who flew over and back, prhaps wondering what he'd seen in the middle of the west Limerick forestry!

Our second shoot was at the fabulous Anna Carriga estate in Killaloe, Co. Limerick. A stunning location for another bridal shoot with Eva, a relaxed contemporary theme with pinks, soft greens, coral tones and silver greys. The shots from this shoot are under wraps at the moment, until press release, but once again a really productive shoot was had, with all the great suppliers working toogether to create an amazing look with fresh style ready for the cover of any self respecting bridal publication! We met some great contacts again during the day and everyone put their best work on show at such a luxurious location. The shots below are from inside the wedding pavillion, looking out over Lough Derg. There is a small private beach and the water was crystal clear. A perfect location for a get away from it all wedding.
